On a very blustery and wet Saturday we were excited to welcome Yanto Barker and Chris Opie of ONEPro Cycling to Athlete Service. A hardy group of cyclists aged between 17 and 70 assembled early for coffee and croissants at our Henley-on-Thames HQ, including two riders who had made the journey down from Shoreditch.
ONEPro are sponsored by Le Col, the British cycling apparel company started by Yanto Barker. Yanto says “I created Le Col to convert my expertise and obsession with technical detail into beautiful performance kit that rewards any rider who shares my love and dedication to the sport”. Much of the Le Col 2016 kit was in use amongst the peloton on Saturday and we are pleased to report it acquitted itself well in the torrential rain that thwarted our progress round the Oxon & Bucks countryside for the next 3 hours.
Although the the group sustained the usual number of punctures the highlight was Chris Opie’s rear mech shearing off with 8 miles to go. Henley Practice’s Laurence Plant & Tony Robinson stepped up together with Yanto to push and pull Chris back to base where Rob Griffiths was able to make a speedy repair during coffee. Suitably roadworthy and refreshed Yanto & Chris took off for another 3 hour ride leaving the rest of the peloton to consider how the ONEPro Team riders manage to make the local hills look so easy.
